One Price at Every Tier, Which We Respect

Agent service from Rocket Lawyer runs $125 annually, the same $125 at every membership level. No tier unlocks a better agent rate. No introductory number expires into a bigger one. In a market full of first-year pricing that quietly doubles, a flat figure behaving the same way whichever door you came through is worth acknowledging, so we acknowledge it.

The Catch Is What the $125 Is Attached To

Rocket Lawyer is a legal platform. Contract templates, document builders, attorney consultations, e-signature, and registered agent service occupying one slot inside all of that. If you want the platform, the agent line is a sensible add-on and $125 is a reasonable price for it.

If you do not want the platform, you are subscribing to a legal service in order to satisfy a Maine filing requirement. That is the whole objection. It is not that the number is high, because $125 is not high. It is that the number arrives attached to things you may never open.

Split it into two questions and it stops being confusing. First: do I want an ongoing legal subscription? Second, separately: who holds my Maine agent appointment? The answers do not have to come from the same company.

Check one more thing before deciding. If a legal subscription already exists somewhere in your stack, or an accountant or attorney covers that ground for you, then the platform half of this offer duplicates something you fund already. That is less an argument against Rocket Lawyer than an argument for auditing what you own before you add another recurring line to it.

What Maine Asks the Agent to Do

The statutory job is narrow. Under 5 M.R.S. § 105 your entity appoints an agent for service of process, and what Maine wants from that agent is presence: a real address in the state, somebody there during business hours, and delivery of whatever arrives. Templates and consult minutes fall entirely outside the job description.
