Free for a While, Then $149 a Year

The Bundle Genuinely Helps

Start with the good part, because it is real. Buy one of Bizee's LLC formation packages and the agent role rides along at no charge for three to twelve months, with the length set by which package you chose. That is not a discount code. It is a legally required service handed over at zero cost during the months a new company can least afford anything.

Maine makes that worth something. Getting an LLC onto the books here means filing a Certificate of Formation, which is what 31 M.R.S. § 1531 calls the document rather than Articles of Organization, on Form MLLC-6 for $175. Optional speed runs another $50 for 24-hour handling or $100 for same-day. A free agent year set against that opening bill is a fair reason to take the bundle.

Then the Free Run Ends

When the included months are up, standalone billing starts at $149 a year. It was in the terms, and Bizee is not doing anything sneaky. What it is doing is letting a purchasing decision happen by default.

That is the part to plan around. Nobody sits down on the conversion date and evaluates providers. A card gets charged, the charge is not large enough to investigate, and it repeats annually from there. Put the end date in your calendar the day you order, because that is the day you actually choose.

Nothing on Our Side Converts

$99 buys a year and $99 renews it. There is no promotional period because there is no post-promotional rate to graduate you onto. What you get: same-day scanning of anything served on our Maine office, alerts by email as documents land, a portal holding everything we have received, a public record showing our street address where yours would otherwise sit, and a heads-up before the June 1 report deadline.

Not the cheapest, and we will say so. BetterLegal publishes $90. Ours is among the lowest flat annual prices in Maine, and the number is the same in year six as it is on day one.

Every Step of the Maine Handover Away From Bizee

Maine runs this on paper, which surprises people, but it is a short piece of paper.

1. Sign with a replacement agent. Maine will take a commercial agent carrying a state listing, or a noncommercial one holding a physical Maine street address and reachable in business hours. A PO box does not qualify. We meet the requirement either way.
2. Fill out Form CLK/RA 3, Maine's combined clerk and registered agent appointment sheet. One form serves LLCs, corporations, and foreign entities, and the boxes want your entity name, the charter number, and details for whoever is taking over. Enroll with us and we hand you ours already filled in.
3. Mail it with $35. That is the for-profit rate and every LLC pays it. A smaller fee sits printed beside it on the form for Title 13-B nonprofit corporations, and it is not yours. Address the envelope to the Division of Corporations, UCC and Commissions, Maine Secretary of State. Add $50 for next-day or $100 for same-day if timing is tight.
4. Watch the state record. Once it shows the new agent, the change is live and documents start routing to us.
5. Cancel Bizee last. Not first, and not at the same time.

That final step is the one people get wrong. Bizee remains your agent of record until the Division processes the form, and the form itself will not accept a blank where the new agent goes, so there is no version of this where you end up briefly unrepresented unless you create one by cancelling early.

Best time to run it? Inside the free window. Maine imposes no waiting period and no filing season on this, so month two works exactly like month twenty, and going early means the $149 never posts.
